Faculty Development and External Honorifics Committee

Membership

The membership consists of faculty at the rank of professor representing each of the academic departments, and at least one previous or current Term professor.  Any of the latter two can serve as the departmental representative. The Associate Dean for Faculty Development is an ex officio member of the committee.

Duties and Responsibilities

The committee seeks a proactive approach to identifying candidates, utilizing an internally developed COP awards calendar, for external awards and provide support to enhance their success; and to clarify and focus on prestigious awards in different fields and pinpoint nomination efforts towards these goals. The committee will also identify general faculty development needs at the college-wide level, which may include seminars, workshops, and other strategies that will facilitate the development of COP faculty members.  The committee will vote on Term professorships and provide recommendations to the Dean. The committee will also review all PROSPER grant submissions related to faculty development and make recommendations to the Executive Committee (through the ex officio).  The committee reports to the Dean and the Executive Committee.
